I probably shouldn't admit this, but while he was walking the dorms for candy (it was the faculty family treat-or-treat through the dorms at Baylor night), Charles asked me, looking at his whisk, "What is this for?" I said, "To keep kids from taking your candy" (with a laugh of course).
When we returned to the car at the end of the night—and Charles with a slammin amount of candy—he said from the backseat, with all seriousness, "Daddy. I didn't have to use my whisk on any kids. They didn't try to take my candy."
And if they had tried, I wonder if they might have received a whisk to the head. More likely, Charles would have just started crying and asked someone to hold him.
